Report on IM supported Mustang Eye Clinic by Tilganga Eye Center.
The Tilganga Eye Centre (TEC) was first established in 1994 in Kathmandu, Nepal, and has been performing surgical ophthalmic camps for over a decade. This entails a surgical team, as well as a
number of volunteers traveling to remote districts within Nepal, where their services are utilized for a number a days.
Approximately twenty of these camps are performed each year.
Since the establishment of the “VISION 2020: The Right to Sight” priorities, this figure is thought to have decreased significantly. In Nepal, the success of the program has been contributed to by the TEC as well as other established hospitals. As of the 30th of June 2004, Vision 2020 has resulted in the establishment of eighteen eye hospitals, fifty nine primary eye care centers (community eye centre), six eye departments and seven proposed primary eye care centers throughout Nepal.
